Pengabdi Setan is Indonesian horror film directed by Siswono Gautama Putra, the title translates to "Slave of Satan" who is also the name of the U.S. DVD. This became the basis for one of the few films to replace the Christian or Buddhist-based horror theme to the Muslim faith. Film bears resemblance in plot to Don Coscarelli Phantasm films in 1979. Has achieved cult status among fans of Asian horror films, mainly because it was not available for many years except as an obscure press VHS Japan without English subtitles. In 2006, Brentwood Home Video, a specialist U.S. label, released a DVD cut to print on a retail release as part of the Eastern Horror series.
